The motivation for the award reads as follows:
“Scandic Trans, one of Korsholm municipality's largest companies and among the top three taxpayers in 2023, is currently undertaking a multi-million euro investment at Fågelberget in Korsholm. The company's headquarters have been located at Fågelberget since 1991, and as the business has grown, the facilities have been updated. The site is now being optimised for today's modern logistics needs. The company is expanding its own office space and, at the same time, creating a logistics hub that also accommodates other businesses.
Several environmental measures, such as switching to geothermal heating, are being implemented simultaneously. The project's third and final phase includes constructing a new high-bay warehouse with comprehensive freight handling and terminal operations.
Scandic Trans has expressed that it is investing because it believes in this region and its potential.
In addition, the company has long been a pioneer in sustainability work within the logistics industry. The environmental management system introduced in the group back in 2000 laid the foundation for the extensive sustainability initiatives now taking place at several levels. Among other things, the company has developed its own reporting system where it can report detailed emissions per delivery down to pallet level.
From 2024, Scandic Trans will also offer all its customers sustainable sea transport through its partnership with Viking Line.
Scandic Trans, which is owned by Finnish road hauliers, focuses mainly on transport within the Nordic region and has excelled specifically in food transport. . Almost all its vehicles are equipped to transport food, and its drivers have hygiene passports and are trained in this area.
Scandic Trans is also at the forefront of internal and external communication, where AI already plays an important role, and it publishes its own annual magazine. It’s a logistics leader that doesn’t just keep pace but sets standards for the industry.”
- "The award is a notable recognition of the ongoing efforts the company has made for many years. Scandic Trans is one of Korsholm’s largest companies and has continued to grow, develop, and invest for over three decades," says CEO Mikael Löfqvist, who was on hand to receive the award, which is one of several entrepreneurial prizes awarded annually by the association.
